T Level Courses

Browse all T Level Subjects

T Level courses can be taken after your GSCEs as an alternative to studying A Levels.

These 2-year courses offer a combination of classroom and workplace learning, designed with employers, to give you the skills that industries need. They are ideal if you want to get hands-on experience and learn skills that will get you a job in a technical profession, for example, engineering, science, accountancy, or media.

To succeed in your chosen T Level course, you must show technical knowledge, specific learned abilities, concepts, and skills for the industry area, and a basic working knowledge of the occupations and career paths in your chosen field.

All T Level courses include an on-the-job industry placement with an employer, with 315 hours (approximately 45 days) of content and training within your chosen sector, either as a day release or a block of days together. Workplace learning focuses on developing the practical and technical skills you need.

One T Level qualification is equivalent to three A levels.

Each T Level course consists of these components:

  • Maths, English, and Digital Functional Skills
  • An industry work placement of 315+ hours
  • A technical qualification (TQ) which consists of core skills in the subject area, and occupational specialist skills specific to your chosen area
  • Enrichment activities
  • Any other occupational requirements such as membership to professional bodies if required to enter employment

T Level qualifications are worth UCAS points, so you can also opt to continue to university on completion.
