Our Skills Academies unite individuals, businesses, and organisations to empower Londoners to improve their job prospects, support employers with workforce needs, and build a continuous pipeline of skilled team members.
Mayor of London Skills Academies
We are delighted that Capital City College successfully obtained an extension to deliver the Mayor’s Skills Academies: Creative, Digital, Green and Hospitality until March 2025. Through working closely with employers and training providers, this programme gives Londoners industry-relevant skills and businesses the skills they need to thrive.
The Mayor’s Skills Academies work across sectors that are key to London’s recovery and long-term economic success by coordinating and quality-marking training in these growing industries. The programme has already supported over 10,000 Londoners to get into Good Work. We will continue our commitment to ensuring that our residents will be able to access support to gain jobs and skills opportunities.
Our Mayors Skills Academies are all credited by The Quality Mark which identifies our academies to be excellent, industry-relevant training in the capital. The Quality Mark Statement also represents our commitment to including a combination of sector-specific questions and wider cross-cutting issues like diversity and inclusion, sustainability, Good Work and the engagement of underrepresented groups.
The training and employment available through the Mayor of London’s Skills Academies are tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of underrepresented groups and low-income households and address the entrenched and structural barriers that prevent these groups from accessing sustainable Good Work opportunities. These groups include:
- People aged 50+
- People from black and ethnic minority groups
- Women
- Unemployed people
- People earning below the London living wage
- Young people
- Lone parents and people with caring responsibilities
- People with disabilities
