Goalkeeping Academy

Our Goalkeeping Academy offers specialised elite training for essential goalkeeping skills such as positioning, shot stopping, handling, footwork and distribution.

To join the Goalkeeping Academy you must be enrolled on a course at Capital City College.

What are the benefits?

We have partnered with The Nationals to provide this brand new Goalkeeping Academy! Training alongside other goalkeepers in a focused environment builds confidence, enhances fitness, and opens pathways to scouting opportunities or professional growth. If you are an aspiring goalkeeper, a dedicated academy can be the key to unlocking your full potential.

This amazing programme will be led by the Head Coach at the Nationals, Martin Brennan. Martin was a former professional goalkeeper who then moved into coaching and has over 20 years of coaching experience. In the last 20 years, Martin has been first team goalkeeper coach with Fulham FC (Premier League and Championship), Wycombe Wanderers FC (Leagues 1 and 2), Leyton Orient FC (League 2 and Academy), Borehamwood FC (National League) and Tottenham FC (under 23’s).

All players in our Goalkeeping Academy will receive:

• Free training kit
• 6 hours per week of professional goalkeeper coaching
• Affiliation with professional and semi-professional football clubs
• Work experience opportunities at professional and semi-professional clubs
• Performance analysis with professional feedback and target setting
• Tactical, technical, mindset workshops
• Observe professional club training
• On-site medical and physical support
• Free on-site access to the gym and fitness suite
• Design and monitor diet and fitness plans
• Discount codes for our partners (gloveglu, Forza, and One Glove)
• Discount codes to take part in The Nationals Premier Performance camps

What are the entry requirements?

To be considered for the Goalkeeping Academy, you must be:

• Aged 16-19
• Enrolled on a full-time course at Capital City College
• Successful in a Goalkeeping Academy trial

Goalkeeping trials

Add one of our Sports Academies to your basket when applying for a full-time course, and we will contact you about attending a trial session. The next trial sessions will be held on Wednesday 9 April 2025 and Wednesday 16 April 2025 between 12pm and 2pm (please arrive at 11am).
