Access to Higher Education Diplomas are Level 3 qualifications which prepare people without traditional qualifications for study at university. They are well established and widely accepted by universities, qualifying for UCAS tariff points that are comparable to the tariff points for three A Levels.
These courses are suitable for adults (anyone aged 19+) with a wide range of previous educational or career experiences who now wish to pursue further study within Higher Education. You will gain the relevant academic subject knowledge needed for higher education study as well as the opportunity to develop study skills to help you to succeed.
You will also develop your practical skills in some of our bespoke learning spaces. You will be assessed through a range of methods, including assignments, exams, presentations, observation of practical work and practical reports.
If you need help with funding your Access to Higher Education course you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan. Eligibility for this loan does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks. You can check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan on the gov.uk website.
Your Advanced Learner Loan balances will be ‘written off’ once you complete a Higher Education course. This means you do not have to repay it. For more information please visit the gov.uk website.
