Access to Higher Education Diplomas are Level 3 qualifications which prepare people without traditional qualifications for study at university. They are well established and widely accepted by universities, qualifying for UCAS tariff points that are comparable to the tariff points for three A Levels.
Access to Higher Education courses are for students aged 19+ who wish to return to education to prepare for studying a Higher Education degree. Learners who have studied with us have progressed on to prestigious universities to complete degrees in various subjects, including Medicine at St Georges, Pharmacy at Kings College London, Mechanical Engineering at City University and many others.
These Access courses are suitable for adults (anyone aged 19+) with a wide range of previous educational or career experiences who now wish to progress onto university-level study. You will gain the relevant academic subject knowledge needed for higher education study and have the opportunity to develop study skills to help you succeed.
You will also develop practical skills in some of our bespoke learning spaces. You will be assessed through a range of methods, including assignments, exams, presentations, observation of practical work and practical reports.
If you need help funding your Access to Higher Education course you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan. Eligibility for this loan does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks. You can check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan on the gov.uk website.
Your Advanced Learner Loan balances will be ‘written off’ once you complete a Higher Education course. This means you do not have to repay it. For more information please visit the gov.uk website.
