The programme was set up to support Year 12 students with an interest in architecture and encourage curiosity about sustainability in architecture while developing skills. The 2023 cohort included a mixture of visual arts students from the Sixth Form College and Engineering students from the Centre for Applied Sciences. The Future Architects programme aims to encourage students from marginalised groups to explore the field of architecture and provide work experience opportunities.

Amelia Tran, a Fine Art and Graphics student, said, “My experiences on the project have helped me expand my creativity, and not just that, but the talks, portfolio workshop and summer internship also helped me to build my confidence and realise that I can become an architect. I will be applying to study architecture at UCL next year.”
