CANDI Fashion students create unique designs at Fashion Enter

Fashion Design and Business students from CANDI complete part of their course at social enterprise, Fashion Enter.

A group of Level 3 Fashion Design and Business students from City and Islington College (CANDI) have been honing their skills at Fashion Enter, a not-for-profit social enterprise which drives excellence in sampling, production and skills development within the Fashion and Textiles industry.

The collaboration between Capital City College Group (CCCG) and Fashion Enter was set up to showcase the most up-to-date skills in the Fashion industry and combine practical learning with industry best-practice.

A group of 18 students aged 19+ and 15 students aged 16+ have been visiting Fashion Enter regularly as part of their Fashion course to improve their skills and knowledge around patterns, sewing and business.

Students benefited from access to Fashion Enter’s facilities and were able to use the technology available. As part of their Fashion course, they completed a t-shirt design and branding project and designed, prepared and printed t-shirts using Kornit Digital Printing, a highly ethical and sustainable mode of printing. The students’ designs are available to view and purchase as part of a unique collection on the Fonthill Fashion website.

Elouise Zaharia, a Level 3 Fashion Design and Business student, said: “The collaboration between City and Islington College and Fashion Enter was a very useful one because we had the chance to practice our skills.” She added: “I did this course in preparation for going to university. I intend to study Textile Development. After finishing university my goal is to become a textile designer.”
