Minimum entry criteria

The general minimum GCSE (or equivalent*) entry requirements to study A Level courses at our Sixth Form are below. Most subjects have additional entry criteria, for example, higher grades in subject-specific GCSEs. Please check individual subject pages for full details.

GCSE minimum requirements (*BTEC Level 2 qualifications are not accepted in place of GCSEs):

• Five GCSEs at grades 9 - 4, of which:
  • English language at grade 5, plus two others, also at grade 5
  • Maths at grade 4, plus one other also at grade 4

Each A Level has additional subject-specific criteria. Click on individual A Levels to find out subject-specific criteria.

To do four A Levels, you will need seven GCSEs at grade 7 or above, including a minimum of two GCSEs at grade 8 or 9.

Please note: Sixth Form does not accept A Level restarts or retakes.
