Capital City College (CCC) nurseries have received a donation of garden items from Wickes, the British home improvement retailer, as part of the Wickes Community Programme.

The nurseries at CCC offer essential childcare for student parents, many of whom are from low-income backgrounds or are single parents. By providing a safe and engaging space for their children, the college enables these parents to focus on their education and build brighter futures for their families.

To help the children explore nature and develop physical skills through play, the Wickes Community Programme has donated a range of items to CCC’s Finsbury Park and Holloway campus nurseries. The donation includes a Rowlinson Parkland Sandpit, timber planters, composting materials, and garden storage. These additions are designed to create a sustainable and inspiring environment where children can learn about the world around them.

Chris Morgan, Commercial Director, Capital City College, said: “Our nurseries are more than just childcare facilities; they enable parents to access education and create a sense of community for their children. We are so grateful for Wickes’ support in helping us upgrade our outdoor spaces. These new features, from the sandpit to the planters, will make a real difference in helping our children explore nature and learn through play.”

Hannah Randle Hockin, Community Engagement Manager, Wickes, said: “We’re really happy to be able to support Capital City College with this project. It’s great to see our products being used to create a positive space for children to grow and for parents to have the support they need to continue their studies. We want everyone to feel proud of their local community spaces, and we’re glad we could play a small part in this one.”

The Wickes Community Programme supports local groups, charities and projects across the UK, helping them improve spaces, learn new skills and bring communities together through practical support and donations.
