Capital City College (CCC) has appointed two new board members, Iyare Igiehon and Sunil Gadhia.
Senior business leaders Iyare Igiehon and Sunil Gadhia officially became part of the Capital City College Board from the beginning of April this year, joining industry professionals, CCC colleagues and students, and local community representatives.
Chaired by Michael Davis, CEO of the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), the Board meets regularly to oversee the strategy, finances and policy direction of the college.
Iyare is a senior creative and inclusion leader with two decades of experience across the UK screen industries. He is the founder and executive producer of S.O.U.L. Fest, now in its eighth year as a BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying Black film festival, held at BFI Southbank, Rich Mix, and Midlands Arts Centre, with an international partnership with the American Black Film Festival.
Most recently, Iyare served as Creative Diversity Partner at the BBC, where he was part of the team leading strategic delivery of the corporation’s £112m diverse programming commitment and 20% production inclusion ambition — initiatives that have since been adopted across the UK broadcasting industry.
Prior to that, Iyare held an executive role at the BFI, where he delivered inclusion events strategy and administered national access funding across the sector. Over the course of his career he has secured multi-year sponsorships, designed national talent programmes reaching audiences in every UK nation and region, and contributed to EDI policy development at national and international forums.
Sunil is a lawyer and business leader with extensive experience advising businesses on complex disputes and crisis management. He previously served as Chief Executive of Stephenson Harwood, a highly regarded City law firm, where he led a period of significant growth and transformation.
He later joined Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, one of the world’s leading international law firms, where he also became a member of the Global Executive Committee and helped deliver major governance and organisational reform.
Sunil also serves on the board of Gateley Plc, a listed professional services group, and has previously served on a number of public and business bodies, including the Advertising Standards Authority and the London Chamber of Commerce, where he chaired the Asian Business Association. He is actively involved in business, governance, and pro bono initiatives.
