Students at City and Islington College (CANDI) have been preparing and performing a series of shows, ranging from a modern take on Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Tom Wells’ coming-of-age drama Broken Biscuits.
CANDI students from Performing Arts and Music courses have been involved at every stage of preparing these shows, from reworking classical texts to participating in technical rehearsals. Students have already performed their own version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Morning by Simon Stephens, and Old Times by Harold Pinter.
Performances are taking place at CANDI’s Centre for Business, Arts and Technology (CBAT) on Camden Road (no booking required).
There are more performances still to come:
Georgia Gomes Pozzebon, who is studying for a Performing Arts Diploma and played Ophelia in the student’s revamped version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, said: “It’s been a really interesting process, getting to see how different people work, getting to learn different techniques and different ways of performing.”
