The Employer Skills Academies Programme aims to support Londoners hardest hit by the pandemic into good work in sectors key to London’s recovery and long-term economic growth, as part of the London Recovery Programme. It will do this by providing financial support for the coordination and quality marking of training in London (including adult education) and the provision of bespoke support to help newly skilled people into work in our priority sectors.
We provide free training opportunities and support packages to help Londoners get a job in the Construction and Engineering sectors. We do this by providing bespoke flexible learning programmes to fit around individual circumstances and availability. Our aim is to give them the confidence and skills they need to be employable within 3 to 5 weeks, and a guaranteed job interview with an employer who is accredited with the Good Work Standard.
The Enfield Construction Skills Academy provides pre-construction and Construction Skills Certification Card (CSCS) training and apprenticeships in brickwork, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical installation to upskill students to progress onto careers in construction.
We have partnered with Enfield Council and Vistry Partnerships to create an Academy providing construction training for the Meridian Water regeneration project.
At the Academy, students learn all the relevant skills to develop a career in construction focusing on new builds, with the ability to perform building work to a high standard safely. It provides additional training alongside an apprenticeship or study, using the college’s purpose-built workshops.
The Green Hub provides training to produce a pipeline of skilled workers able to retrofit environmentally friendly energy systems and emerging green technologies to reduce emissions and address the long-standing skill shortage vacancies in the construction sector.
Our partners have extensive links to employers within the green construction sectors, including Wates, Retrofit Works, North London Waste Authority, Morgan Sindall, Vistry Partnerships, and Peabody, who provide training and work placement, leading to guaranteed interviews and guaranteed interviews and leading to job opportunities covered by the Good Work scheme.
The London Rail Academy teaches learners all the technical skills they need to carry out engineering and maintenance jobs in the railway industry. The London Rail Hub has been awarded Training Provider of the Year by the National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR) for two consecutive years and works with well-known employers including Siemens, Alstom, Thales, and Transport for London.
The Hub supports rail apprenticeship training at CONEL’s huge engineering workshops at its Enfield Centre. It offers a unique opportunity to work on official train carriages, parts, and equipment used within the rail industry.
The training programmes are co-designed with some of the biggest names in the engineering sector to give learners an accessible and direct career pathway. Learning includes work experience with our partner employers, so students get real-life experience and skills which can be put into practice immediately.
