ABOUT THE COURSE

This course equips you with the skills and experience to progress in engineering, mixing practical work with underpinning theory to develop your understanding of the engineering environment. 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

  • Investigating an Engineered Product
  • Health and Safety in Engineering
  • Engineering Materials
  • Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
  • Mathematics for Engineering
  • Electronic Circuit Design and Construction

  • Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • GCSE Maths at Grade 4 or above,  an additional three GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language, Science or equivalent

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through written assessments and examinations.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

The progression from this course is to the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering.
