Basketball Academy

Our Basketball Academy is partnered with the London School of Basketball, London’s biggest basketball development programme.

To join the Basketball Academy you must be enrolled on a course at Capital City College.

Joining the Basketball Academy will provide you with training, support, guidance, excellent coaching and a bespoke preparation and placement programme for American colleges. You will get professional coaching for 6 hours per week in our Enfield centre sports facility, by professional basketball coaches with international and US college experience.

What are the benefits?

Our Basketball Academy is partnered with the London School of Basketball (LSB), London’s biggest basketball development programme. LSB is a dynamic social impact organisation committed to the comprehensive development of basketball all across the city. With its roots deeply planted in the principle of sport as a catalyst for positive change, LSB has had the honour of collaborating with like-minded basketball icons such as Michael Jordan, the late, great Kobe Bryant, and the indomitable LeBron James at its events.

Our partnership with LSB allows us to provide diverse programmes to create more opportunities for young Londoners to learn, play, develop and progress within the game, all across the capital.

All players in our Basketball Academy will receive:

• Nike Academy branded team wear
• Professional coaching for 6 hours per week
• Weekly competitive games in college, academy and community basketball leagues
• On-site medical support for injury prevention and rehabilitation
• Free access to the college gym and fitness suite under coach supervision
• Free fitness, strength and conditioning, exercise and nutrition programmes designed and monitored for you
• Free tickets to professional basketball games

What are the entry requirements?

To be considered for the Basketball Academy, you must be:

• Aged 16-19
• Enrolled on a full-time course at Capital City College
• Successful in a Basketball Academy trial

Basketball trials

Add one of our Sports Academies to your basket when applying for a full-time course, and we will contact you about attending a trial session. The next trial session will be held on Wednesday 28 May 2025 between 1pm and 3pm (please arrive at 12pm).

Sports Scholarship Programme

For elite individuals competing at the National or International Level, we welcome you to apply for our Sports Scholarship Programme. Sports Scholarships are given to 10 of the very best sportspersons across the college. Individuals who are awarded this status usually compete at the National or International level.

This scholarship is in partnership with TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) where being awarded this recognition can fast-track further Sports Scholarship possibilities when they progress beyond FE.

Students on a Sports Scholarship will receive additional benefits:

• Mentorship
• Sport Psychologist
• Arranged workshops with universities regarding sporting excellence
• Sport Scholarship kit
• AOC Sports Leadership fast-tracked support

In addition to the above, Elite Academy players will receive:

• 15 hours of professional basketball coaching and strength and conditioning per week
• Open access to daily training facilities
• Individual skills development programme tailored to your specific needs
• SAT testing preparation and tutored support classes
• Placement support for US college scholarships and top European academies
• Direct links and pathways through to professional teams in the BBL and Europe
• Opportunity to become a sponsored athlete, with a value of up to £2500 per year
• Annual team travel abroad to compete in international competitions (Europe/USA)
• Invitations to attend national player ranking events and inclusion on internationally released ranking lists
• Full stats and player profile online
• Full game footage online and available for player showreels
• Nike training kits, tracksuit and bag
