Safeguarding in Education - Introduction

This is an introductory short course which will bring an overall awareness of the principles and duties of safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk.

Safeguarding is an integral part of providing high-quality support in an educational setting. If you are working or intend to work in an educational setting, then you will benefit from this introductory course.

The learners will:

• Define Safeguarding, Child Protection, PREVENT and vulnerable adults
• Explain the principles for effective responses to a Safeguarding disclosure
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and others involved in the safeguarding process

The candidates must be competent users of the English Language, have an interest in the field of education and have access to a computer for online learning.

In addition to the generic entry requirements which you have for non-accredited courses, the candidates must be competent users of the English Language, have an interest in the field of education and have access to a computer for online learning.

This course may be free if you meet certain conditions by earning less than £28,860pa, if not it costs £72.

Once you have completed the course, you will have the opportunity to discuss with the course tutor the most appropriate progression routes onto further Teacher Training courses.
