Garment Construction

This course will help you create a garment by developing your pattern-cutting, sewing and garment construction skills. It is suitable for complete beginners as well as learners with existing experience who wish to build on and refine their skills. Students of all levels work alongside one another at their own pace, supported and guided by the tutor throughout to ensure everyone progresses confidently and effectively.

You will learn how to:

• Develop your creative/visual ideas
• Read and cut different patterns
• Use an industrial sewing machine to construct your garment
• Produce technical information records for your garment

You will need an interest in garment construction. No prior qualifications are required. While basic materials will be provided for initial tasks and skill-building exercises, students will be required to purchase their own fabric and other materials for constructing their final garments.

Depending on your skills, progress, and level of ability demonstrated throughout the course, you may also be considered for progression to the Level 4 Diploma in Garment Technology for Fashion Retail.
