Creativity, community, and celebration came together on 29 November as Capital City College (CCC) students lit up the Queens Crescent Festive Light Market in collaboration with Camden Council.
From mid-afternoon to the early evening, the market buzzed with energy as students across CCC campuses showcased their talents in art, music and live performance, bringing creative flair to this popular local event. There was even a pair of reindeer and street performers present for the public.
Five students from CCC’s King’s Cross and Holloway campuses, attended the event, contributing their skills and enthusiasm to make it a success. Two of these were Level 2 Art students who sold beautifully printed festive cards. All the pottery decorations on display were crafted by Level 1 Art students, their handmade designs proving popular with visitors.
Performing arts students took to the stage not just to dance, but to host and compère the day’s entertainment. Their lively performances kept the crowds entertained and the festive spirit alive. Adding the perfect soundtrack to the celebration, music students provided technical sound support and delivered live performances that made for an unforgettable afternoon.
The event also featured a special moment with our students pictured alongside Tim Chaundy, Curriculum Leader (Centre Schools) for Art at CCC, and the Mayor of Camden, Eddie Hanson, highlighting the strong collaboration between the College and Camden Council.
Tim said: “The Queen’s Crescent Festive Light Market was a fantastic opportunity for our Performing Arts and Music students to showcase their talents. Our performers brought real festive energy to the stage, while our Music Production students gained invaluable hands-on experience running sound for choirs, soloists, and even a brass band playing Christmas carols. It was a joyful community event, and we’re excited to build on this partnership with Camden Council to create even more performance opportunities in the future.”
This collaboration gave CCC students a real platform to showcase their skills, creativity, and professionalism as performers and artists while spreading joy to the local community.
