ABOUT

Our Pre-Internship course is designed for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) working at Entry Level, who are aiming to build the essential skills, confidence, and independence needed to move towards supported internships, employment, or further training.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This highly supportive and individualised programme offers a practical, hands-on approach to learning, helping learners grow in key areas such as:

  • Communication and Teamwork
  • Managing Time and Personal Organisation
  • Travel Training and Community Access
  • Work-Related Skills and Enterprise Projects
  • Using Technology for Life and Work
  • Health, Wellbeing and Independence
  • Pre-interns will be accessing work placements in a range of settings

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is ideal for those:

  • · Aged 18–25, with a current EHCP
  • · Working at Entry Level 2-3
  • · Travel trained (or actively working towards this)
  • · Keen to move into paid work, volunteering or further training

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Assessments can include:

  • Initial baseline assessment and EHCP review
  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to each intern’s goals and support needs

Evidence gathered through:

  • Workplace observations and feedback
  • Journals, progress logs, and learner voice
  • Tutor and job coach reflections
  • Mid and end-of-term reviews involving interns, families, and professionals

FEES

AGED 16 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan

There are no fees for learner aged 16 to 24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

PROGRESSION

This course is an ideal stepping stone for students who need more time and support before moving into a Supported Internship or vocational training at Level 1.
