ABOUT

This flexible Skills for Employability programme is designed to meet each learner exactly where they are and move them on to the next realistic step—whether that is greater independence in the community or readiness for a Supported Internship and paid work.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This programme offers a range of core vocational and life-skills units—such as goal setting, teamwork, communication, time management, and safe use of technology—taught at all levels to build independence and employability.

Learners also engage in individualised activities tailored to their interests and EHCP targets, including personal safety, budgeting, and creative or physical projects.

When ready, students can progress to employment-focused units like CV writing, interview practice, work placements, and workplace health and safety, helping them prepare for real-world jobs and responsibilities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • EHCP in place, working towards or at Entry Level 3
  • A willingness to engage in both classroom and community/workplace activities

No formal academic qualifications required.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Assessments (RARPA) can include:

  • Initial baseline against EHCP outcomes.
  • Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with small, achievable targets.
  • Ongoing evidence gathering – photos, videos, witness statements, learner voice, work samples.
  • Half-term reviews with learners, families and professionals to celebrate “distance-travelled”.
  • End-of-year showcase or portfolio demonstrating personal progress rather than graded exams.

FEES

AGED 16 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan

There are no fees for learner aged 16 to 24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

PROGRESSION

Following completion, learners may progress to:

  • Supported Internship or college-run work-experience hub.
  • Level 1 vocational courses, where appropriate.
  • Part-time employment or volunteering with ongoing job-coach support.
  • Increased independence: travel alone, manage money, and engage confidently in the community.

Learners leave with a personalised portfolio evidencing the skills, attitudes and experiences employers and adult-life settings value most.
