ABOUT

The course provides learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot ICT systems. Covering key areas such as customer support provision, computer systems, networking principles, systems architecture, web fundamentals, and ICT installation and configuration, this course equips individuals with the competence to provide effective IT support. Learners will gain expertise in hardware and software troubleshooting, network setup, system security, and web technologies. The course prepares individuals for entry-level roles like IT Support Technician, Help Desk Support, and Network Technician while also serving as a stepping stone for further education and industry certifications.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This qualifications will provide underpinning knowledge and recognise skills in Systems Support, and telecommunications in the workplace which will help to tailor employees’ knowledge to their specific job role.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language and Maths or equivalent Level 1 qualification

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

You will be assessed via a portfolio of controlled practical assessments. There will also be online testing to assess your key skills.

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

Adults - LEVEL 2

This course may be free for you if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade 9-4. You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee.

PROGRESSION

You could progress onto :

  • ICT BTEC Level 3 Diploma equivalent to two A Levels
  • ICT BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (120 Credits) equivalent to three A Levels
  • Access to Higher Education Information Technology (IT) Diploma Level 3 
  • A Level 3 Apprenticeship programme
