ABOUT

T Levels are a two-year qualification, equivalent to three A Levels. The course is designed by employers and businesses to ensure you learn industry-specific content and up-to-date industry standards, preparing you to work in the healthcare sector or progress to higher education.

80% of the T Level will be learning theory and practical skills in a simulated classroom, and 20% will be through your industry placement. The industry placement will be in a healthcare setting, and you will have to complete a minimum of 45 days.

Embedded within the T Level, there will be weekly tutorials and two hours of the Education Enhancement Program, where students will learn contextualised English, Maths and Digital skills.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Year 1

In the first year of the Health T Level, you will learn a range of topics that will boost your knowledge in scientific practices, person-centred care, infection control, following legislation and current guidelines. In addition, you will also learn core science content relating to health care. During industry placement, you will learn how to apply the content that you have learnt to practice, as well as shadow and learn basic clinical skills. Finally, Maths, English, and Digital skills will be integrated into the qualification and applied in occupationally relevant contexts.

Year 2

In your final year of studies, you will start to learn and understand what adult nursing means, how you can support the team and how professionals meet the needs of adults. You will learn, through classroom-based training and industry placement, how to assist with clinical tasks, for example, moving and handling, taking physiological measurements, applying simple wound dressings, and collecting specimens. You will also learn to assist with skin integrity assessments and treat and manage skin conditions. In Year 2, you now apply what you have learned over the past 2 years in your industry placement, assisting the nurses on your team to ensure they meet individual needs.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will be required to have five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English Language.

In addition:

  • A clear DBS
  • Successful completion of the college interview process

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

There are several assessment methods during the 2-year course.
