Game on for your future! This course will prepare you for further study in esports—also known as competitive gaming—offering a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creative arts.

Endorsed by the British Esports Association, you'll explore the fascinating world of competitive gaming—a fast-growing global industry valued at £655 million in 2018, rising to £865 million in 2019, and projected to reach £1.79 billion in 2022!

Through engaging projects, you'll study topics including Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments, Establishing an Esports Organisation, Stream for Esports, Plan Esports Events, Start an Enterprise in Esports, and Design an Esports Game. This comprehensive approach prepares you for progression to our Level 3 qualification, apprenticeships, or employment in this exciting industry.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Modules can include:

  • Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments
  • Establishing an Esports Organisation
  • Streaming for Esports
  • Plan an Esports Event
  • Start an Enterprise in Esports
  • Design an Esports Game

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Three GCSEs at grade 3 or above (or a relevant Level 1 course)

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

All units will be assessed internally through projects/assignments to test which are subject to external standard verification. These assessments are to check your understanding, knowledge and application of skills and techniques that help implement the different aspects of running an esports event.

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

Adults - LEVEL 2

This course may be free for you if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade 9-4. You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee.

PROGRESSION

On successful completion of this course, you could progress higher-level courses in Esports, Computing, an apprenticeship or employment.
