

This Level 3 City & Guilds qualification is a one-year course designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to progress into an Engineering Apprenticeship.
The course is highly practical and you will spend the majority of your time in the engineering workshop. The course is perfect for anyone aspiring to start an apprenticeship or work in maintenance, installation and commissioning as a technician.

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Engineering health and safety and engineering principles will be assessed externally through an online exam and the rest of the units will be assessed through assignments, coursework and portfolio evidence.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.
If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee yourself, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Upon successfully completing this one-year course, you are able to progress onto an Engineering Apprenticeship or a Level 3 National Foundation in Engineering if you wish to go to university.
