Through hands-on projects, you will explore digital content creation, visual storytelling, marketing strategies, and the fundamentals of media business. You will develop practical skills in video production, photography, social media management, and branding while gaining insight into how to launch and sustain a creative enterprise.

Our Media Communication and Entrepreneurship - Level 2 Diploma is designed for students who want to explore creative media in an accessible and supportive environment. This year-long course will help you learn the basics of media production while also gaining the skills to start your creative projects or business.

Topics covered can include:

• Media Production Basics: Learn how to create videos, edit images, and develop content for different platforms.

You will need:

• GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 3 or above, or a relevant Level 1 qualification with Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1
• A reference from your previous school/college

The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio.

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

Adults - LEVEL 2

This course may be free for you if you meet certain conditions:

• If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
• If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade 9-4. You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
• Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
• There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

This course will help you progress to higher-level courses within the creative media department, such as a Level 3 qualification. There are many exciting options for further study, including audio production, broadcasting, social media and branding, film production, photography, and VFX (visual effects). Whether you want to develop your technical skills, explore creative storytelling, or gain industry experience, this course provides a strong foundation for your next steps in the media industry.

This course will provide you with an introduction to both the creative and technical aspects of creative media production, allowing you to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to further study and employment within the creative industries.

Your lessons will take place in our industry-standard suites, equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud on Apple iMacs, as well as giving you access to state-of-the-art cameras, tripods, green screen facilities and more. There will also trips and visits, and guest talks from industry experts.

You will be studying the following units: Unit 1: Introduction to creative media methods and skills Unit 2: Introduction to production techniques in creative media Unit 3: Understanding an Audience in Creative Media Production Unit 4: Contextual Research for creative media production Unit 5: Exploring Audio Production and Technology Unit 6: Exploring Video Production and Technology Unit 7: Exploring interactive media production and technology ideas. You will need:

• Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above or relevant Level 1 qualification

All applicants must have an assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and presentations.

This course leads to employment.This course also leads to further study or progress to Media or Games and Animation at Level 3.

The Level 2 Creative Media Production (and Technology Diploma will give you the fundamental skills and techniques used within creative media production.

You will learn about the creative process, presentation skills, and other various media activities such as using DSLR cameras, lighting, and sound equipment – including green screens.

The course aims to provide you with an introduction to a broad range of creative skills, from Audio, Visual and Interactive based projects. Students will complete four projects based on creative media.

Previous projects have included App Design, Advertising Campaigns, Graphic Design, Gaming Sounds and Technologies, Trailers, Motion Graphics and Photography

You will be studying the following units:

Unit 1: Introduction to creative media methods and skills

Unit 2: Introduction to production techniques in creative media

Unit 3: Understanding an Audience in Creative Media Production

Unit 4: Contextual Research for creative media production

Unit 5: Exploring Audio Production and Technology

Unit 6: Exploring Video Production and Technology

Unit 7: Exploring interactive media production and technology ideas.

Unit 8: FMP

You will need:

• Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above or relevant Level 1 qualification

All applicants must have an assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

The structure of the qualification means that it is 100% coursework, you will be assessed through summative and formative set assignment briefs from different creative disciplines as well as having an opportunity to work on live briefs.

Towards the end of the year, you will have to complete a formative
self-initiated project (FMP - Final Major Project), based on your chosen creative pathway.
