ABOUT

This course is accredited by the University of the Arts London (UAL).

This is a specialist pathway in digital media production.

You will be working at an intermediate level in digital skills. You will develop digital skills such as:

  • Film, video and television production
  • Graphic design
  • Special FX and Motion Graphics
  • Digital publishing and page layouts
  • Production management
  • Marketing and Promotional Materials
  • Live Show Editing/Production
  • Idents
  • Short Film Production

You will use equipment and software programmes such as:

  • Cameras
  • Tripods
  • Audio recorders
  • Green Screen
  • Premiere Pro and other editing software
  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • Camera Crane
  • Multi-camera/Live editing

Using a blended learning approach (online/classroom workshops/remotely, you will also learn about the media industry and develop employability skills. You will be assessed by a portfolio. Your final project will be assessed by the examining board. Visits, trips and work experience are compulsory.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will be studying:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to media processes and technical skills
  • Unit 2: Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production
  • Unit 3: Introduction to professional practice in creative media production
  • Unit 4: Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production
  • Unit 5: Investigating audio production and technology
  • Unit 6: Investigating visual production and technology
  • Unit 7: Investigating interactive media production and technology
  • Unit 8: Final Major Project (FMP)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements:

  • 4 GCSEs Grade 4 and above
  • Level 2 Vocational Qualification with a merit
  • BKSB English and maths Level 2 or above
  • A written statement or task may be requested

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

This course is assessed through coursework assignments, projects/ tests throughout the course, which are set and marked by your teachers and externally verified by the external examiners.

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

Adults - Level 3

This course may be free if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have a full Level 3 qualification (a full L3 is the equivalent of two A-levels at A* - E grade). You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions if you live in London, or 3 years if you live outside London.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee yourself, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
