ABOUT

This course is accredited by the University of the Arts London (UAL).

Step into the future of creative production with our pioneering AI Generative Media course, part of the UAL Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology.

This innovative pathway explores how artificial intelligence is transforming media production – from generating visual assets and scripts to enhancing storytelling, post-production, and interactive experiences. You’ll experiment with emerging tools such as text-to-image generators, AI video editors, and machine learning algorithms while developing a critical understanding of the ethical, creative, and cultural implications of generative content.

Throughout the course, you'll:

  • Explore creative workflows using AI platforms such as RunwayML, Midjourney, DALL·E, ChatGPT, and Adobe Firefly.
  • Learn how to integrate AI tools into media production pipelines for content creation, pre-visualisation, and post-production.
  • Develop a portfolio of experimental work, including AI-generated short films, animations, digital art, or immersive narratives.
  • Collaborate with others to design original concepts that fuse human creativity with machine intelligence.
  • Critically evaluate the role of AI in media, examining authorship, bias, copyright, and authenticity.

This course is ideal for curious and forward-thinking creatives who want to be at the forefront of new media practices and shape the future of the creative industries.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

On this exciting course, you'll explore a range of core and specialist units that develop your creative, technical, and critical thinking skills — all through the lens of AI and emerging technologies in media production.

You will work through practical projects, experimental briefs, and collaborative tasks that reflect real-world creative media industry practice.

Modules can include:

  • Introduction to Media Processes and Technical Skills: Develop foundational skills across media platforms while experimenting with AI tools like image and text generators to explore new creative processes.
  • Introduction to Design and Research Skills: Learn how to generate and develop ideas using both traditional and AI-assisted research techniques.
  • Responding to a Media Brief: Create work in response to a set theme, using AI tools to support ideation, content creation, and post-production.
  • Exploring Audio-Visual Production and Technology: Experiment with video and audio, learning how AI can support editing, colour grading, sound design and visual effects.
  • Exploring and Developing Creative Media Skills: Broaden your skills through hands-on workshops that blend traditional and digital approaches, such as AI-assisted animation, visual storytelling, and generative design.
  • Personal Progression: Identify your progression goals while reflecting on the role of AI and emerging tech in future study, careers, or creative enterprise.
  • Producing a Personal Project: You’ll propose, plan, and produce your media project — incorporating AI creatively, ethically, and meaningfully.
