ABOUT THE COURSE

This course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree-level study or employment in the music production and performance sector.

Our music laboratories have industry-standard equipment, including Apple iMacs, equipped with Logic, Ableton, Midi Keyboards and fully functional recording studios with state-of-the-art mixing decks. There are opportunities to participate in live performances and you will study topics related to the music industry.

There will also be visits, trips and work experience. Many of our teachers are professional musicians, which gives the course a real work focus. During your course, you will be engaging in work-based activities aimed at giving you an insight into working in this industry.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will develop the following skills:

  • Unit 9 - Developing music performance and production skills
  • Unit 10 - Exploration of specialist study in music performance and production
  • Unit 11 - Preparing for progression in music performance and production
  • Unit12 - Project proposal for an extended project in music performance
    and production
  • Unit 13 - Extended project in music performance and production

WHAT WILL I NEED?

Entry requirements:

  • 4 GCSEs Grade 4 and above
  • Level 2 Vocational Qualification with a merit
  • BKSB English and maths Level 2 or above

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and presentations. You will complete four practical projects and be assessed by portfolio. Your final project will be assessed by the examining board

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.
