ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is designed for 16-25-year-old learners who have an EHCP or school leavers who require a high level of support on a Pathway to Employment.

This course supports the learner’s development of key skills and attitudes valued by employers. This qualification allows you to gain a grounding in a wide range of topics/skills to prepare you for the world of work.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will begin your journey to employment by learning about behaviours, effective communication and the personal skills that will prepare you for the world of work. You will focus on employability skills that are transferable.

Effective communication is an extension of speaking, physical and writing/emailing skills to help you share information with others more effectively.

Personal Skills which will include working as part of a team and problem solving in preparation for the workplace.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

Current EHCP. Entry level 1 qualification or Initial Assessment results at Entry Level 1.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through a variety of methods based on course requirements and individual needs. For example:

  • Observations
  • Workbooks
  • Practical Activities
  • Questioning

Peer feedback throughout the course, you will be gathering evidence/information in each unit. There are different methods that evidence can be gathered to meet individual needs.

MEET SOME OF THE TEACHERS

Philip Hodgson

Philips's specialism is in Sports Science, especially anatomy and physiology. Philip is interested in the way the way the body works and how the complex systems all work together.

Philip has previously worked within secondary school PE departments and at Newham College in East London. He has been managing the sports department at CONEL since 2017 and has hobbies in football, basketball and beekeeping and is a huge Manchester City supporter!


Yamini Bist

Yamini Bist is a dynamic and dedicated professional with a diverse background in education and sports coaching. As an enthusiastic KS4 support staff member, Yamini has developed skills in guiding and supporting students through their crucial key stage 4 educational journey, making a tangible impact on their academic growth.

In addition to their role in education, Yamini proudly serves as the head coach of the netball academy. This leadership position has allowed for the cultivation of a passion for sports in aspiring athletes while fostering their skills and enthusiasm for netball.

Yamini is also a lecturer for sports massage, sharing knowledge and insight with eager learners, helping them gain a deeper understanding of sports massage techniques and their importance in athlete performance and recovery.

With a strong commitment to education, Yamini is eager to contribute skills, leadership, and passion for education and sport and has a dedication to fostering growth and success in students learning.
