
This course will help you develop the skills, knowledge and experience to work in a barbershop as a barber, teaching you the latest techniques for styles such as skin fades, alongside facial hair trimming.
You will learn how to work in accordance with health and safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of your clients, your colleagues, and yourself. As well as working in the college's own hairdressing salon, you will also have the opportunity to do a period of work experience. You will also work on improving your English and Maths skills.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements and practice observation.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Learners can progress into employment as a Junior Barber, or learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by progressing onto further courses such as Level 2 Women's Hairdressing, Level 2 Make-Up or Level 2 Beauty Therapy.
