
This course provides an introduction to health and social care, developing your communication and IT skills, as well as the practical and technical skills needed to work in the sector.
You will study the role of the carer, exploring their responsibilities, identifying the needs of others, as well as understanding the variety of jobs in the industry. You will also get to look more closely at personal care and learn how to create activities and learning experiences for both children and adults.
As part of this exciting course, you will also complete a work placement within a Health and Social care setting. This setting can include care homes, hospitals, medical centres etc. You will also have the opportunity to participate in additional safeguarding training that has been created for the care sector and includes the 'Keeping children safe in Education 2022' updates.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements and practice observation.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher-level courses, such as a Level 2 qualification or an apprenticeship.
