
The usual progression for UAL level 2 Diploma is level 3 Diploma & Extended Diploma in These qualifications are designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector.
They provide an opportunity for those with an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
The Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology are designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector.
They provide an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
Study for these qualifications are not time constrained but will normally be over a period of one year for the Diploma and two years for the Extended Diploma.
The structure of the qualifications, with units linked to provide coherence, will allow students to synthesise newly acquired practical skills with theoretical knowledge and understanding as they explore their aptitude and ambition and the particular characteristics of a broad range of creative media disciplines.
Students will be encouraged to recognise not only the unique characteristics of different disciplines, but also the dynamic and potentially innovative relationships between those disciplines.
This course is suitable for people aged 16-18, and for adults with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
The first 7 units in the first year are internally assessed and internally moderated, with Unit 8 being internally assessed, and internally and externally moderated. Unit 8 is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall final grade for the 90-credit diploma.
In the second year, units 9-12 are internally assessed and internally moderated. Unit 13 is internally assessed, and internally and externally moderated. Unit 13 is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall final grade for the Extended Diploma qualification.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a Bachelor of Arts, or to pursue employment in the creative industries.
