Study a Railway Engineering Apprenticeship in London and gain a comprehensive qualification in both the theory and practice of trains, all while working in the transport industry.
Train travel is at the heart of connectivity throughout London, the UK and Europe as a whole, with over 4 million journeys being made across the 20,000 miles of track in England, Scotland and Wales every day. Rail Track Engineers help ensure train services are safe, reliable and efficient, servicing the network and helping things run smoothly.
As a Railway Engineering Apprentice, you will undertake the core learning required to maintain railways and also have the opportunity to specialise in one particular discipline.
Our railway apprenticeships provide a thorough understanding of Rail Track Engineering, including the railway infrastructure, signalling systems and overhead line equipment. At our Enfield Centre, you'll find a fully equipped, specialist workshop to help replicate working in the industry, with many of our students going on to work in companies such as VGC Limited, Volker Rail, Aspins, Infocus Rail, McGinleys and Colas Rail.
Become a part of our Railway Skills Academy which was awarded ‘Training Provider of the Year‘ by the National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR) for two consecutive years and works with well-known employers including Siemens, Alstom, Thales, and Transport for London.
The London Rail Academy supports rail apprenticeship training at our Enfield centre engineering workshops. Topics and skills covered include:
To take part in the skills academy you must hold an employment contract where the employer has agreed to take part in an apprenticeship scheme where you can then take your training at our Enfield centre facilities to obtain your professional qualification.
To apply for these Apprenticeship courses, you must be in employment. Please speak to your employer before applying for these courses. If you are not employed and would like to become an apprentice, please see our current apprenticeship vacancies.
