If you're aged 19 or older and looking to improve your numeracy skills, our Maths Functional Skills at Entry Level to Level 2 can help you progress your learning.
Each level takes approximately 15-20 weeks to study, with classes lasting 2-3 hours each week. We offer a range of Maths courses to help you develop the numeracy skills you need for work and everyday life - even if you've been out of education for a while.
We will ask you to complete an assessment to help us choose the right level of teaching for you.
Functional Skills are widely recognised across all sectors of employment and can be a stepping stone to GCSE. Enrolment and assessment can be completed online or at the college. Enrolment information will be sent after you book. For more information, please email fsenrolment@capitalcct.ac.uk.
Please note: The duration and delivery of the course is flexible and will be discussed between you and your tutor with a timetable that fits around you.
You will need to be eligible to study in the UK. Upon enrolment, you will be asked to upload residency and income documents for college funding purposes. You must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for you.
There will be in-person (BKS B and Maths tests).
At the end of each course, you will complete Functional Skills tests (paper-based or online options are available) and receive a nationally recognised certificate from Pearson Edexcel. Exams are held at the college premises. English Functional Skills has three sets of exams: Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening, and Maths, which has one exam that includes both calculator- and non-calculator-based questions.
This course is free for eligible learners who earn less than £ 28,860 pa; otherwise, there will be a cost of £362.
Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths are part of the government’s national education and employability framework. Functional Skills are often a stepping stone to further education or training, such as Level 2 or 3 vocational courses, apprenticeships, or professional qualifications.
