There are 2 main pathways at Kennet West Independent Living Skills pathway and Vocational and Employability pathway. You will develop learners' independence skills, and communication skills to prepare for the world of work.

You will learn such subjects as:

16 - 25 year olds with EHCP.

You can progress onto vocational access courses at our King's Cross centre.

This course is designed for people aged 16-24 (with an EHCP) who need additional support and provides the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed in a career in their chosen industries.

We will provide you with experience, skills and qualifications that are valued by employers.

When you are on the programme, you will:

• Be placed with an employer for a minimum of 5 months
• From term two, be on placement for 5-12 hours a week with your personal Job Coach who will make sure you get the correct assistance and support in the workplace
• Have lessons, workshops and tutorials are front-loaded to equip interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in your work placement
• Study work-related numeracy and literacy
• Have the option to enrol on GCSE or Functional Skills courses in English and Maths alongside the Supported Internship
• Study employability skills to develop your skills in teamwork, communication, job applications, how to manage your time and much more
• Receive personalised travel-training support according to your needs
• Participate in tutorials and enrichment activities Employability drop-in during the third term to promote positive progression opportunities
• Receive three months of additional employability support from Job Coaches which includes CV writing, interview skills, applications and sourcing a positive progression route

You need to be between 16 and 24 years old and have an Educational and Health Care Plan (EHCP), looking to move into paid employment at the end of the course.

If you are aged 16-24 and have an EHCP, the course will be free.

At the end of the programme we help you in securing further study or supported internships.
