ABOUT
Engineering - Level 1 Diploma
This qualification enables you to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to progress to further learning or training qualifications in engineering at a higher level. You will also have the opportunity to develop wider personal and employability skills with optional units in personal, learning and thinking skills and employability.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
The topics covered are:
- Planning and Making a Machined Product
- Communication skills for work
- Making Engineering Components Using Hand Tools
- Carrying Out an Engineering Project
- Using Mathematics and Science in Engineering
- Routine Servicing of an Electrical/Electronic System
- Wiring Electrical Circuits and Components
- Electronic Assembly
- Using a Bench/Pedestal Drilling Machine
- Working in Engineering
- Working Safely in Engineering
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need:
- At least Entry 3 in both Maths and English. You are able to take an English and Maths assessment at our centres during the interview stage to determine your level.
All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements and practical observation.
FEES
AGED 16 - 18
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

PROGRESSION
Once you successfully complete your course, you will receive a Gateway Level 1 Diploma in Engineering and progress to a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering to further improve your knowledge and skills.
