ABOUT

This Business - Level 1 Introductory Certificate is designed for you if you are ready to progress quickly to further study. The Certificate offers a basic introduction to the business sector, and it could form part of a study programme that includes other appropriate subjects, such as GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will study a range of units from the following:

  • Being organised
  • Developing a personal progression plan
  • Finding out about businesses in your area
  • Organising a meeting
  • Branding a product
  • Creating a visual display
  • Presenting a business idea
  • Contribute to running an event
  • Recording income and expenditure
  • Communicating with customers
  • Developing routine office administration skills

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements to join this course. Learners will complete an initial assessment upon enrolment.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

You will be assessed using a variety of styles to help them develop a broad range of transferable skills. You could be given opportunities to:

  • Carry out practical tasks
  • Present the information that they have gathered
  • Keep working logbooks, records and reflective journals
  • Practice English and mathematical skills
  • Take part in oral or written presentations
  • Take part in role-play, interviews, and other activities.

FEES

Adults - ENTRY LEVEL/LEVEL 2

This course may be free if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course, but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee.

PROGRESSION

These qualifications will prepare you for further learning at a higher level in business. The development of transferable skills means that you can also choose a study programme from alternative sectors. For example, this business qualification could lead to a Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualification in this sector, the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Apprenticeship in Retail, or Level 2 qualifications in other sectors.
