
This course combines theory with practical study, to give you a good understanding of what's involved in supporting teaching and learning and how you can enhance the development of a child or young person. You'll learn all about how children develop their understanding, professional best practice and how to promote learning.
Topics covered can include: Providing support for learning activities Supporting child development Keeping children safe Contributing to positive relationships Providing effective support to colleagues

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is by completing a portfolio of evidence via assignments and assessment of skills is through direct observation by the assessor.
Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Employement in a school/college environment as a Teaching Assistant or a Learning Support Assistant. You could progress to the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools programme.
