All applicants must have an assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
You will also need stationary, overalls and safety boots.
You will be assessed on your completed practical tasks, against industry standards. Written assessment will include multiple choice questions, paper-based exams and written assignments.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This qualification can lead to you gaining employment in the plumbing industry and gaining further qualifications at Level 3. A highly experienced Plumber can earn over £50,000 a year.
Opportunities also exist of learners moving into the new developing area of sustainability with courses on Heat Pumps etc.
