ABOUT THE COURSE

On this course you will develop the skills you need to build a career including teamwork, innovation and entrepreneurship, and you will also have the opportunity to explore your chosen subject in more detail. As part of the qualification, you have the option to specialise in Travel and Hospitality. In addition to this, students will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Mathematics depending on their grades.

 This qualification is for all learners who want to continue their education and develop their skills for progression to further learning and, ultimately, to employment. 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

The course is made up of ten units, four core units (Being Organised and Developing a Personal Progression Plan), and three optional units. You will study different optional units depending on your specialism.

Throughout the course you will learn a variety of topics based on the subject specialism Hospitality. You will have the opportunity to visit real businesses and to hear from industry experts. You will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and for one to one meetings on a regular basis.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

Minimum of 3 GCSE's including Maths and English or a previous qualification. You will be assessed  to ensure you will be able to achieve well on the course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The course is currently 100% coursework and you will be assessed in a variety of ways, presentations, role plays and time-limited exercises.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

The course provides progression routes into work, apprenticeship or further study at level 2. The course will help develop your employability skills including team work, communication and numeracy skills and provide an insight into a variety of topics such as Exploring a Local Tourist Attraction.

You will have the opportunity to progress to Level 2 in a variety of courses such as Travel and Tourism / Sport /  Business or your chosen industry related subject
