Accounting - Level 3 Diploma (AAT)

This course will provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills required for progressing either to employment in an accounting or finance role, or to enable progression to further study accountancy and finance. You will develop skills including understanding of complex financial processes, such as final accounts, reports and returns, spreadsheet use for accountants, VAT returns and professional ethics. The course will help you identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems that are well defined but also complex.

• Indirect Tax
• Ethics for Accountants
• Spreadsheets for Accounting

You will need:

• Accounting - Level 2 Certificate, or equivalent

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

Four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments. This qualification also includes a synoptic assessment that students sit towards the end of the qualification, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.

Adults

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, or into employment in roles such as an accounts administrator/assistant, finance assistant, accounting technician, credit controller, bookkeeper or payroll supervisor.

Mohamed Koroma has been an Accounting lecturer at City and Islington College since 2016. Mo is a PGCE (Westminster University, London) qualified trainer and assessor and enjoys sharing knowledge and practical skills in Accounting and Finance. Mo’s philosophy is deeply rooted in staying current with industry developments through CPDs in Accounting and Education.

Mo is an ACCA/FCCA certified accountant with over 15 years in the public sector with skills in budgeting, financial reporting, and performance management underpinned by developing and implementing robust accounting systems to support internal controls and uphold ethical standards.

Mo also holds an ACCA Certificate in Digital Innovation for Finance (2023) and is certified in Business Objects Designer/Reporter/Supervisor and IBM Cognos reporting.

Mo has a passion for working in education and has supported over a thousand learners in Lifelong Learning and Employability. Mo’s career also spans adult education services (Haringey Adult Learning Service, North London), vocational training services (Mary Ward Centre, Central London), and Higher Education (University of Hertfordshire).
