Occupational profile

The main duties and tasks of a Surveying Technician are:

To collect information from inspections or visits to buildings, land and construction sites
To take appropriate measurements of buildings, land or plans
To meet with other professionals, clients, customers and others to obtain and provide information relating to land, property or construction
To collect and record data relating to land, buildings or construction for technical use
To manage work tasks relating to the area of practice
To undertake costings and/or measurements and/or valuations using data collected from research
To ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others

Further Information

This programme runs over a 24-month timeframe, with a learning period of 21 months and an end point assessment (EPA) of up to 3 months.

Progression

Apprentices who complete the Surveying Level 3 programme will aim to gain promotion to technical/management roles including: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Assistant Building Surveyor Assistant Project Manager/Site Manager Chartered Membership to RICS, CIOB, CAB

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment
Project Management, Building Surveyor, and Quantity Surveyor pathways
Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2 (if not exempt)
