Course Outline:
Week 1 - Health and Safety in the Workplace, Skin Preparation, Understanding the History of Hair and Makeup for Film, Theatre, and TV, and the Role of the Hair and Makeup Artist
Week 2 - 1940s and 50s Straight Makeup Application for the General Public, Theatre, Film, and TV. Male, Female, and Gender Neutral.
Week 3 - Understanding Facial Hair and Applying Laid-On Hair. Using Clippers and Shaving.
Week 4 - Working with Lace Pastiche.
Week 5 - Introduction to Hairstyling for Film and TV. Hair Work with Rollers, Carmen Rollers, and Hotsticks. Create 1940s and 50s Hair and 60s and 80s Hair. Backcombing.
Week 6 - Hair Work Introducing Tongs, Marcel Waving, and Pincurls. Create 1920s and 30s Hair.
Week 7 - Understanding Wigs. Wig Blocking, Create a Style on a Lace Front Wig.
Week 8 - Prepping Hair for Application of Dressed Wig, Create a Total Look with Makeup, Applying Wig and Securing. Afternoon Portfolio Session.
Join us every day from 10 am to 4 pm for a deep dive into the art of hair and makeup! In just 8 weeks, you'll have the skills to create authentic looks from the past and present, ready to build your portfolio and start your career. Attending all sessions are compulsory.

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 3 years or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be uploaded. If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled-status' documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please bring evidence of this).
Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.
