ABOUT THE COURSE

This course will prepare you for work in a professional kitchen giving you the skills and understanding to safely prepare dishes in any commercial environment. This course can lead to employment and direct pathways to level 2/3 part-time programmes.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

  • An introduction to the professional kitchen.
  • The fundamentals of cooking, preparation and execution
  • Food safety and hygiene

WHAT WILL I NEED?

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 3 years or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be uploaded. If you’re an EUEEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled-status' documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please bring evidence of this).

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Continual assessment within the class.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2


If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.
