
If you are aged 16-18 and need to develop your English language skills, this English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course is for you.
ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. ESOL courses are for people who speak English as a second or other language, and who are resident or permanently settled in the UK.
These courses will help you to increase your independence, as well as develop the language skills you need for everyday life, employment and further study.
You will improve all areas of your English, whatever your starting level is.
You will also study Maths and develop your skills for employment.
Careers guidance and discussions about your next steps are an important part of the course.
You will receive lots of tutorial support to ensure you are successful in your course.

This course is most suited to young people who have had only a few years' secondary education in the UK, or are recent arrivals in the country. You must have been at least 16 years of age last August.
You will be fully assessed at enrolment so that we can place you in the best class for you. Your skills in English and maths will be tested.
Your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing will be assessed through nationally-recognised ESOL qualifications.
Your Maths skills will be assessed through Functional Skills exams.
There are no additional costs.
You may progress to the next level of ESOL, vocational studies within the College or other opportunities in education.
