ABOUT THE COURSE

This practical, work-related course will develop your skills and knowledge, and the confidence to progress towards higher level study in the applied sciences.

You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in science, covering biology, chemistry and physics, with emphasis on the work of scientists and technicians.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Topics covered can include:

  • Chemistry and our Earth
  • Energy and our Universe
  • Biology and our Environment
  • Human Behaviour

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language, Maths and Science or a Level 1 Diploma in Science, with Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is continuous throughout the year and based on assignments and projects.

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Many of our students are eligible for financial support when studying at college, please click here for more information.

This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a specialist Level 3 Extended Diploma, or an apprenticeship.
