STEM Careers Digital Campaign Challenge

Calling all creatives! Want to win a Go Pro or a Content Creation Kit?

We have partnered with Islington Council to offer an exciting opportunity for you to showcase your talents, make an impact, and win a prize!

We’re looking for students to create a digital campaign that speaks directly to young people about the incredible opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers. This is your chance to inspire your peers, flex your creative muscles, and help shape the future!

What is the challenge?

Design a digital campaign that’s youth-centric and visually captivating. Your campaign should be 60-90 seconds and made for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube, and should include compelling messages that will resonate with young people. Here’s what we’re aiming for:

  • Create a video that is 60-90 seconds long.
  • The video must incorporate one of the STEM subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, Food Tech, Pharmacy, Ecology, Green, Sustainable, Environment, Genetics, Biochemistry, Cells, Plant Genetics, Neurobiology, Medicine, Agriculture, Evolution and Human Health.
  • Increase awareness by showing that life sciences offer exciting and viable career options.
  • Encourage applications to STEM courses by motivating others to apply to STEM pathways.
  • Highlight diversity by shining a light on the diverse career paths available within STEM, showcasing that STEM careers are for everybody.
  • Emphasise how STEM make a real difference in the world.
  • Feature inspiring stories of young professionals thriving in STEM.

What are we looking for?

We want content that’s educational, inspirational, and entertaining; whether it’s a catchy TikTok trend, a series of Instagram posts, or a YouTube mini-documentary, your campaign should be:

  • Youth-centric that speaks the language of your peers. What would grab your attention?
  • Visually appealing with striking visuals, graphics, or videos to make your message pop.
  • Shareable: your campaign should be something that people want to share with their friends.
  • Example Topics: Eco Warriors Win: Biotech Boom: Future Scientist: 10 things STEM can lead to Neuroscience 101.

What’s in it for you?

The student who produces the best campaign will win a prize and have their work featured by Capital City College Group (CCCG) and Islington Council. You will also be invited to take part in our Student Content Creators Programme, where you get paid to produce regular content throughout your time at college.

Plus, you’ll be making a real difference by encouraging others to explore exciting career opportunities in STEM!

How to get started?

  • Have a brainstorming session. Think about what makes STEM careers, especially in life sciences, exciting and relevant to young people.
  • Do research and investigate current trends on TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms. What’s working? What can you do differently?
  • Plan an outline of your campaign. What message do you want to send? How will you deliver it?
  • Start building your campaign using your chosen platform(s).

Who can enter the competition?

You must be a current student at one of our colleges at Capital City College Group.

When is the submission deadline?

Make sure to submit your campaign by Friday 4 October 2024 at 11:59pm. Entries that are submitted after the deadline will not be eligible for the competition.
