Debbie Houghton

Group Principal - Apprenticeships, Partnerships and Innovation

Debbie has worked in further education for over 25 years, holding a wide range of delivery, operational, and senior leadership roles in the South East Midlands before taking up her current post as Group Principal of Capital City College. She has a strong track record in leading curriculum across almost all industries and sectors and in shaping the wider skills agenda. With a background and passion for developing the next generation of the workforce, particularly through apprenticeships, training, and business development, Debbie is also highly experienced in building impactful partnerships with employers and stakeholders across the UK and in Wales.

A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr FCMI), Debbie also holds a master’s degree in education, an MBA, and serves as a Non-Executive Director at VTCT Skills. She is a strong advocate for women in leadership and is committed to mentoring and championing the next generation of education leaders whenever her time allows.
