Cyber Security - Introduction (Digital Skills Academy)

This course introduces you to IT system security threats and the methods used to protect against them, known as cyber security.

You will take part in practical activities to protect IT systems from security threats, including data encryption and cryptographic techniques, developing your understanding of information security and the legal requirements affecting the security of IT systems.

This course will provide you with sector awareness and develop knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices with the view to seeking employment or proceeding to further study in this area.

Modules can include:

• Introduction to cybersecurity
• Cyber security concepts and phishing mail analysis
• Threat actors, malware, attacks, concepts and techniques
• Methods of infiltration, security vulnerabilities and exploits
• Protecting individuals from cyber attacks
• Protecting organisations from cyber attacks
• Careers in cyber security

You will need to be eligible to study in the UK. Upon enrolment, you will be asked to upload residency and income documents for college funding purposes.

This course is for 19+ adults who are GLA residents.

Free unless earning over £28,860.00pa (then £75)

Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress into further study in this area.
