Capital Connect, Capital City College (CCC)’s new corporate membership programme, hosted its inaugural in-person networking event this month at the college’s historic Grade-II listed building on the Westminster campus.
The event brought together member organisations from across London for an afternoon designed to build relationships, spark collaborations and showcase CCC’s facilities and academic excellence.
The room welcomed businesses and organisations including Saunders Architecture + Urban Design, London Heritage Quarter, Overbury, AIS, Enfield Borough FC, YESSS Electrical, Creative Collective UK, Formara Print & Marketing, Goho, BHB Build Ltd, Mindful Education, ETC Awards Ltd and Miltiadou Cook Mitzman. The varied guestlist reflects the programme’s wide-ranging appeal, with attendees across different sectors united by a shared interest in connecting with London’s future workforce.
Members enjoyed networking over a three-course meal prepared and served by talented CCC students, a thoughtful touch that highlighted the college’s commitment to putting its students front and centre of everything it does.
Capital Connect was first conceived as a business membership idea, but it has grown to become a programme that facilitates genuine connections between employers and the college, its students and the wider community that go beyond mere sponsorship.
Chris Morgan, Commercial Director at CCC, said of the programme: “It creates real, tangible opportunities for students, supporting industry engagement and opening the door to long-term collaboration that benefits everyone involved.”
What sets the programme apart from similar schemes is its financial model built around reinvestment into impact. Over 95 percent of membership income goes directly back into teaching, resources and student wellbeing. For member businesses, that means every pound invested translates into meaningful support for London’s next generation of workers.
“The afternoon was filled with thoughtful discussion and genuine enthusiasm, and the energy in the room captured what Capital Connect is all about,” said Jacob Hoy, Head of Commercial at CCC. “It was a fantastic milestone to welcome Capital Connect members to our first in-person networking event, that simply wouldn’t be possible without the time, expertise and goodwill of our members, whose support helps us create meaningful opportunities for our students.”
Chris was keen to recognise the effort that went into making the day a success. “A special mention has to go to Kirsty McLaren and Jake Hoy for all the hard work that went into launching the membership and delivering such a strong event,” he said. “A huge team effort, and they both played a massive part in making it happen.”
With the successful launch now in the rear-view mirror, the question is what comes next? For the Capital Connect team, the answer is clear.
“We’re excited about what comes next for Capital Connect – this is just the start,” says Morgan. “If your business is looking for a meaningful way to build local impact, strengthen community connections and engage with the future workforce, we’d love to speak to you about getting involved.”
