If you’re looking to study music, performing arts or production arts at our King’s Cross centre, you’ll need to have an audition. As we have transitioned to blended learning, we are asking for all auditions to be submitted online.
For your digital audition, please choose and rehearse your audition piece, film it on your phone or tablet, and upload it to YouTube (you can use the ‘unlisted’ function) or another video-sharing platform, and send us the link.
You can either email the link to casateam@westking.ac.uk with your name, date of birth and email address, or put the link into a Word document and upload the document to the applicant portal (you’ll need your username and password) – simply log in, choose ‘Evidence’ in the left-hand column, and upload the link as an ‘Interview/Assessment’ document.
Audition requirements vary for each course level and subject area:
Music and Music Production
- Music – Level 2: Please submit a video performance piece played on your main instrument.
- Music – Level 3: Please submit a video performance piece on your main instrument; if possible, this should be of an original composition. Singer/songwriters should perform one of their own songs.
- Music Production – Level 3: Please submit a recording of some music that you have created.
Performing and Production Arts
- Performing Arts – Level 2: Please submit a video performance of a 1-2-minute monologue, chosen from a published play – please do not choose anything by DM Larsen.
- Performing Arts (Acting) – Level 3: Please submit a video performance of a 1-2-minute monologue, chosen from a published play – please do not choose anything by DM Larsen.
- Performing Arts (Dance) – Level 3: Please submit a video performance of a 1-2-minute solo dance.
- Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) – Level 3: Please submit a video performance of a 1-2-minute monologue, chosen from a published play, as well as a performed verse and chorus of a song from a musical.
- Production Arts – Level 3: Please submit a written statement, explaining why you want to study production arts with us and detailing your relevant experience and skills.
