ABOUT

The course will train you to work in all areas of the Public Services sector, developing the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in the police, ambulance, military, fire services and local government.

You will participate in a wide range of practical work, including opportunities to steward at events, a live training course with the Fire Brigade and fitness assessments run by the Armed Forces. You will also take part in a yearly residential trip.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 Foundation Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

  • Unit 2 - Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Unit 4 - Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing
  • Unit 5 - Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the Public Service
  • Unit 13 – Introduction to Criminology

Year 2

  • Unit 3 - Global Affairs, the Media and the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Unit 6 - Government and Protective Services**
  • Unit 7 - Planning for and Responding to Emergency Incidents
  • Unit 8 - Custodial Care
  • Unit 12 - Developing Personal Fitness Programmes
  • Unit 15 - Police Powers and the Law
  • Unit 18 - Criminal Investigation Procedures and Practices
  • Unit 19 - Professional Development in the Uniformed Protective Services

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths (at grade 3 or above).

Or

  • An equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language at grade 4 or above and Maths at grade 3 or above).

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Your progress will be assessed throughout the course, using a range of methods such as assignments, written reports, practical assessments, teamwork skills and presentations. The course will have elements of physical fitness, and appropriate stamina will be required during the course.

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.
